Just a question, but is your engining "pinging" or "knocking"?

What people are replying to seems to be more like the pinging problems notorious on the Magnum engines. As I understand, the factory compression is on the verge of being too much for the Magnum engines, so anything from more air, to different spark plugs, to how and where you drive could make the engine "ping". The comuter flash Bill refered to is Dodge's answer to that ping, by simply reprograming the ECU to run less aggressive timing.

If your engine is knocking (a much more defined thunking sound, well, like a hard knock on an object) I would think that is something much more serious and it would need immediatly addressed by your service dealer which should be covered under warranty with a vehicle as new as yours...

Good luck with it whatever the case.

PS...I wonder, if what I understand the computer "flash" to fix timing is correct, do you think Dodge had different versions of that, you know, until they found the timing that worked best? That might explain the varied accounts of how well it worked...
