Good story, but not likely. I went to a web site yesterday that has the
actual flight manual for the SR-71 (recently de-classified) and it shows
the flight operating limits for the aircraft. The maximum altitude limit
for the aircraft was 85,000 feet and was not to be exceeded specfic
authorization and even then there were restrictions on aircraft
configuration and engine operating limits. Check it out at www.sr-71.org.
On the cover page is the link to click to the flight manual.
