I dont have a problem with my paint peeling (yet) but i think its only a
matter of time. I just took my Dak to my local dealer to have him look at
the paint on the hood and front fender. They both have what appears to be a
milky/chalky film under the clear coat. It clears up when the truck is
waxed, but after a good hard rain, its right back again. The body shop
assistant foreman told me that since I didn't buy the truck there and they
don't have really good records on it, they can't say for sure if the paint
was messed up at the factory. He did say that the front fender has had body
work and that since it has and I haven't owned the truck since it was new,
they have no way of knowing if it was damaged in a collision or re-worked
at the factory and thats why they wouldn't even consider covering it under
warranty. He also said that the paint it warrantied for no longer then the
basic new vehicle coverage, 3 years 36K miles. I'm about about a year and
40K miles past all that. I guess for now, I'll just keep waxing and
eventually I'll get the entire truck re-painted anyway.
