I just went throught the same problem. I actually
just ended up droping the y-pipe and get it out
that way. Mine was a little tougher as evidently
when I swapped out my stock exhaust about 9 years
ago, I never put the never seize on the threads
so it was a BI@!H to get out. Just remove the
pipe and walla it came right out.

My truck actually runs better too. I think they
recommend swapping them at 60K, and my truck had
61K and I could surely tell that it idles
smoother now..
