Being a concealed handgun licensee I look at things like this very
differently than I used to. Before I would have said go chase after him,
but now I don't think that's a good idea (permit or no permit). Perhaps I'm
just growing up but I think the chasing should be left to the police in a
situation like this. Now I do feel you should report the vehicle
description and or plate number to the gas clerk or police officer but
chasing after the guy endangers you and your wife not to mention innocent
bystanders on the street. What if the guy feels threatened and turns on
you, perhaps with a weapon. Is a few gallons of gas worth loosing your life
or that of a loved one? As a permit holder I personally would stay way out
of this one. IF I were to chase him, and IF it came about that I had to
defend myself, I would not want to explain that to a judge. But I do
understand the desire to stop someone like this from getting away with a
crime.
