Well, Im home in Maine once again. A quick overview of the last two weeks
since the 2002 DML BBQ:
1) Adam Blaster and I climbed the waterfall.
2) July 7th. I exploded my transfer case on the I-90 East highway just
outside of Rochester, NY.
3)I had it towed to a Dodge Dealerhship (Dorschel Dodge, Honeoye Falls, NY)
and stayed the night at Neil's house. The next morning the delarship
disagnosed the problem as being a blown-up transfer case. (Suppose the hole
in the side was a clue??) I had them hold my truck until I figured out what
to do.
4) July 8th. Rented a car to get back to home in Maine as they didnt have a
new transfer case sitting around (to the tune of $1500.00 + $300.00 labor)
and didnt know when they could get one.
5) July 9th. Found a used transfer case (40,000 miles on it, $550.00 and had
it shipped to the delarship.
6) July 12th. Day of part arrival: Fed-Ex ground shipped the part, back to
the parts place here in Maine. Not only did the part arrive atthe same
location, the cracked the case by dropping off the truck. (What good is
that?..I already had one of those!)
7) July 13th. Located a second tranfer case in Utica, New York. (1,000
miles, out of a 2000 DAK...$756.00)
8) July 15th. Had it shipped to Dorschel Dodge to arrive on July 19, so that
I could drive out and put the new t-case in with the help on Neil as his
house.
9) July 19th. No part at the delarship, the Dodge Delarship anyways. Itw
as dropped off to the Ford Delarship across the street. Dodge, Ford...same
thing right? To add to it, the parts dept. is closed for the weekend and
wont be open until 7am Monday. This delays me another day. But whats one
day when two weeks have gone by?
10) July 21th. Leave for Rochester, NY (Neils house) in a rented car once
again. Arrive there at 3pm. We unload, hooked up the trailer to his DAK,
and go pick up my DAK. Take out old t-case and get ready for the new one.
11) July 22nd. Get the new t-case. Install it..find out the cause was a
bent front driveshaft. Disconnect the front driveshaft and drive home!.
