The DAKSY forced my hand today on the way home & I finally got around to the
Robt Shaw that Bernd sent me 2-3 months ago. Cruised towards home with the
A/C on & stopped for gas. Got about a mile from the station & the "CHECK
GAGES" display came on. Temp gage PEGGED at 260 +! Holy Sh*t! A/C
OFF...Windows down... HEAT ON MAX!
Temp dropped quickly back to 190+/-, so I continued the last 3 miles home -
eyes GLUED to the temp gage. Grabbed the FSM & tools &
attacked...Sheeeeesh....another feat of engineering, hiding that t-stat.
When I finally removed all the stuff in the way, I could see that the OEM
T-stat gasket had failed...lotta cruddy brownish build-up around it. So I
scraped & wiped & replaced & filled & reassembled. Runs like a champ again,
& the temp stayed way lower than normal (Hey! Probably 180, huh?).
Hafta see how she makes the 21 mile run to work in the AM.
Now I don't have any more stuff to install...alas...hafta start searchin for
more ways to spend my meager wages....
