I took a look today and I believe I can run 3" pipe out and down behind the
head light like you suggested. How well dose the filter hold up being down
in the fender like that?

Unfortunately, in 4.7's, the TCM sits right there, and I don't think you have enough cable slack to relocate it.

Don, I don't know if it's possible w/ the 4.7, but on my 5.9 I cut a hole in the sheet metal that allowed me to place my cone filter right below the pass. side headlight(behind the bumper). On the right, front corner of the engine compartment there is a horizontal sheet metal plate. It should be just where you say your pcm is. There is even a large "x" to mark the spot. Beneath that is nothing-open space. You can see and reach from below; just look straight up from behind the right foglight location. If you make your hole in the right spot there is just enough room for a K&N 6X9". I ducted mine w/ 3" pvc, it's been on 2 yrs no problems.
