Just to let you know we pulled the intake and heads off of the 361 to do a
valve job and found an extremely clean engine that looks like it has only a
few thousand miles on it with no carbon, no ridge on cylinder walls at all,
only 1 burnt valve, no bad valve guides. We don't know what kind of oil was
used in this motor but we wish we did. Actually the car is 1 owner and has
only 81,000 actual miles on it. Even with 1 dead cylinder it would get
sideways in first real easily. An extremely torque happy motor. I can
hardly wait to see it run on all 8! The machine shop says the heads are
very large valve, closed chamber type and he tried to buy them from me for a
race car but I declined. I was surprised at this since it is a 2 barrel
carb engine. I wonder what 4 bbl manifolds might fit this engine. I also I
wonder if it is positrack because it left 2 equal 50' strips of rubber in
first (even on 7 cyl).
