Don't know if anyone has checked this site. Granted it has very little
information but it does not say anything about noise. Does mention about
tampering/replacing emissions equipment. http://www.cleanairnj.org/. You
can do search on "auto emissions inspection" and get alot of different
sites. None of them say anything about decibels. About the closest they
mention is the tampering with emission items. Unfortunatley they do not say
anything about installin an aftermarket exhaust. My best interpetation is
that with a muffler of the OEM is bad you can install another as long as it
meets the emissions standards, which from my understanding they did not even
hook the machine up. They just looked at it and assumed it would fail
because it is not OEM. Take them on a walk through the parking lot. It's
also my understanding that even if a vehicle has a certification if the
emissions are tampered with the certification can be revoked. Good luck.
And hope the site has some info that can help
