the rough running at random could possibly be the common oil/distibuter
drive gear problem. I had it and it was very similar to what you describe.
Search the archives you will find dozens of good posts on that problem.
Dbl roller from mopar is about $70. Tensioner is "optional" on v8s about
$35 if i remember right.
