I called Avalanche Engineering, and talked with Steve. He's not very
familiar with Dakotas, but appears to have a lot of experience with
kits for other trucks. He was originally looking for a Gen I or II
4x2 for a suspension lift, but would be interested in diving into an
R&D effort for any truck (Gen I II III, 4x2 or 4x4), given sufficient
interest (5+ interested, committed folks). Here's the email he sent
to me, which I agreed to post for him. I'm sure he'd appreciate a
response from someone who could tell him for certain what he'd need to
provide -- I'm not the right person. Contact info snipped from Jon's
original post is included at the end of his email:

Grady,
Thanks for the info today. I think my first inclination would be to
build a solid axle kit that would include spring hangars, leaf springs
and steering linkage. The customer would supply the recommended axle
or we could supply a custom new unit.

Two questions: Is the Durango common with the Gen III with regards to
the suspension and does the Dakota use torsion bars or coil springs up
front from the factory.

If you could post this I would appreciate it and we'll see what kind
of feedback we get.

Thanks again,
