Let me start by saying that AAR makes a first class product. I had their
hood on my Ram and it was very nice. I ordered their front bumper cover for
my '95 Dakota. So I have some experience with them as a customer. I even
made a point of introducing myself to him and talking to him at Carlisle last
summer.
I have been trying to find a pillar gauge pods for 87-96 Dakotas, with no
luck. AAR has a model mocked up that they haven't put into production. I
have been trying to reach Allan, the owner of AAR, for over a month to find
out what it would take to get these made. I wanted to offer him an initial
order quantity, etc. Basically, I wanted to talk to the guy to see what it
would take, understanding that he's busy.
He would not even return my call. I have been following up every few days,
trying to catch him. I have left messages with my work number and my home
number. I do no think it is unreasonable to expect to talk to him
personally, one time, over the course of a month.
So, I called again this morning for the first time in a week. I was just
informed by Allan's secretary that he can't/won't build the gauge pods..
Moreover, he doesn't have the time to talk to me personally. It really pisses
me off that the guy can't find a minute to speak to me personally, especially
when I'm already a past customer. I have called numerous times, left many
messages, and asked politely if I can speak with him. His attitude
represents piss-poor customer service.
This is the first time I've ever brought anything resembling a vendor dispute
into public. In spite of a quality product, I don't feel AAR's behavior
should be rewarded by future purchases. In fact, I just bought a hood from
Profinish/Proglass because I liked the style more than what AAR had to offer.
I'm glad I didn't buy it from AAR.
