A month or two ago my mothers brand new 02 Explorer took a side hit from
a couple drunkin women backing down a one way street teh wrong way -
(got their licence plate from a few eye wittnesses and called the cops
who in turn did jack Sheet about it)
But it turned out the damage was only in teh finish layer - long scrape
down the rear left quarter. More of their paint on the Ford than
aucutal damage. I used this stuff when I had an "incident" long time
ago with the 2wd where the truck "came in contact" with someones drivers
side mirror and left a scrape alll down the length of teh right side
door and the bed. I believe its made by Turtle wax - it comes in a
white round plastic canister... theres two graded - buffing compound and
polishing compound... I cant remember which is which - but you want the
LESS ABRASICE one - which is white cream NOT the RED which is the
abrasice one. Its important you dont use the wrong one - the more
abrasive rubbing compound WILL ruin your paint. You want the polishing
cream to lightly buff the scrape/scuff out of the paint and finish.
When I was done - you couldn't even tell the Ford had been swiped - with
the dodge the results were less than stellar because I used the more
abrasive compound first. You will need some elbow grease to polish it
up - but the less abrasice one will work wonders. If you want - give me
a chance tomarrow and I'll go scope out the exact name of the stuff at
the autoparts store tomarrow and get back to you on it.
