  Probably a good idea to have another head or two to look at it. Don't
worry about the belt slipping though - that won't damage anything - the
water pump doesn't "sync" with the crank - the pulley isn't attached to
anything except for the water pump impeller blades and of course the
fan blades. Even if you put the serpentine belt on wrong and ran the
water pump pulley backwards you still wouldn't hurt anything (until the
engine overheated).

  So, no worries there. :-) You will probably want to verify that
your fan nut is still tight though, in case you accidentally loosened
it while trying to turn the motor.
