wanna see anemic??? get behind the wheel of a V10 Ford E350 Van. i drove
one of those for a week, and let's just say that i was so disappointed with
the lack of power of that thing (out of a V10) that i complained about it
when i returned it to the rental agency. when i went to rent another van
the following year, i asked if we were going to get another V10, and she
told me they don't rent them anymore because people complained that the
power was lacking for the milage it got.
another lackluster ford engine is the 300HP Intech V8 in the Lincoln
Navigators. for a 6000lbs truck with a 300HP engine, i expected something
more, but i'll chalk it up to bad gearing (3.73's), and a lack of torque.
Then again, in my opinion, they make up for it with the new Cobra (and the
Mach 1).

A little Ford bashing story for everyone to enjoy.
This week I had to travel to Oregon for business (from Conn). Needless to
say, that meant I had to leave the Dak, and head for the rental car agency
to get the keys to my 2 door speck, or whatever they rent as a compact these
days. To my surprise, I show up, and they say "Well Art, we don't have any
compact cars left, so you get a free upgrade." They gave me a brand new
F150 quad cab XLT 4x4 with 700 miles on it!
What a POS! About the only thing I like on the Ford better was the brakes
and the height. Everything felt cheap and plastic inside. It had the 5.4L
V8, but I'd venture a guess that most of our V6 crowd could take this thing.
It was nice to get a truck for a rental, but it wasn't nearly as fun as the
Dakota.
