Rather amusing little bit to add here....
When I bought my sport cluster with the tach for my 89... I swapped
out my speedo/odo pod and changed some of the bulbs in the bezel. By
accident I put a bulb in the socket that was for the upshift light. The
cluster I bought was from a manual Dakota - a Gen II if I remember
correctly. But the clusters are interchangable between 87 - 96 trucks.
Anyway - well the damned green upshift arrow kept coming on at random
times above 50 MPH. Usually when I was crusing at highway speeds and
holding the gas steady. (I have an automatic tranny!!) After a few
weeks I finally got so freakin pissed off at it - I pulled the dash off,
pulled cluster out, yanked out the bulb, threw it on the ground, stomped
up and down on it and told it to go to hell.
Amazing how irritating, such a little thing like a illunimated green
triangle, can be.
