loosing coolant

lately there has been a coolant smell when driving my truck. it begins when
the truck warms up, and you get that characteristic "maple syrup" smell of
collant evaporating, but doesn't last too long. i searched the entire
engine bay, and i can't find any leaks or puddles. also, there is nothing
leaking on to the drive way when i get home. the smell doesn't start
immediately, but when the truck warms up after a while. i'm at 46,000
miles, and plan on doing a full flush of the system during the summer.

also, the lower return hose, as well as the bypass hose, have been replaced.
when i checked for coolant the other day, the truck was low, so i put some
into the resevoir, and i haven't noticed it go down since then, but i will
check tomorrow.

any suggestions on where to look? this is frustrating to be smelling that
coolant and not know where it is coming from.
