The electric one is actually the backup, it turns on whenever the A/C is on
or when the temp hits 210. A few guys on the R/T list have pulled the
viscous fan and are just running the factory electric fan without any
problems (one of them is Scott Q on his blown 408, and he's in SoCal). I
think what most of them are doing is just wiring a manual switch and turning
the e-fan on whenever they're sitting in traffic or when they see the temp
rising. It's also good if you race, cause you can switch on the e-fan while
you're waiting in the staging lanes without turning the engine on.
