Re: Disabilities and driving, was Gary's webpage

You tell 'em, Gary.
I can't tell you how many times I've said essentially the same thing.
Everybody that knew me, when I was learning to drive, had to throw something
into the mix about hand controls. I firmly stated that I didn't need hand
controls, but it seemed nobody wanted to listen to me. Thank God my
driver's ed teacher was willing to let me give it a shot.
Your disability, whatever it may be, is irrelevant if YOU feel comfortable
driving the vehicles you do, the way you do.
Sorry for being so outspoken, everybody. I dislike excuses, but I'll say
that I, like Gary, have worked too hard to drive (I am qualified by the
state of Maine to drive any non-commercial vehicle, and next spring it'll be
extended to include class A and B vehicles as well) to not be touchy about
it. I realize nobody was doubting, at this particular moment, my ability to
drive, but I sympathize with Gary. So it irritated me, ladies and
gentlemen.
Thanks for listening to my rant.
