Tom, I agree with the general consensus, that is a lifter and its no big
deal. As you run it and maybe do an oil change I bet it goes away. Good
job on the timing chain by the way, that is good stuff for a rookie or
anyone else, you should be proud.

Hi Bill - - your reply rang a bell with me. Once before I had a
situation where I heard a sound (very much like what I hear now). I
started the truck up (cold) after it had been sitting at least a day or
more.. and what I heard I thought was rod knock then as well. I dont
remember exactly how long it was - but it did eventually go away. I
thanked God Mopar and didnt ask why it went away - only was happy that
it did. I would hope what you said is right. But I have solid lifters?
Not rollers? This is an old premag V6. I know the push rods are
hollow - is it possible that one is clogged and isnt getting enough oil
through?

I'm going back out in a few mins to restart the engine and let it run a
little longer. Im keeping my fingers crossed. if the engine is bad -
then I can say for almost certain - I wont be able to make the BBQ this
July :-(
