I had my headliner and visors recovered in dark gray to match the rest of the truck. Cost for the visors was $20 & the headliner was $50. it is so much easier to just take it to a place...One thing to note on the Gen III daks is that you can't strip the old liner off of the backing. You can either recover it with new headliner (wich lowers your ceiling the depth of the fabric pluse foam pad behind) or replace with another matterial like Chuck Robbins did (www.intense99dak.com). The hardest thing to get out was the coat hooks and the clips for the visors. I used a rubber jar opener and pliers to pull down. I beleive Chuck's site has all the details on how to remove the interior panels. Good luck

That will also save you money if you are having it recovered by a shop.
The one on my '96 needs to be done and I am installing the overhead
console which means cutting a hole for the bracket. Shop told me $45 to
do it and it would only take a couple of hours. Cheap if you ask me.

I have removed and reinstalled my headliner a couple of times when I
installed the OEM overhead console. If I remember correctly it is held
in
place by the outer cover of the overhead console, the overhead light,
the
side panels where the seat belts are attached, the coat hooks and the
sun
visor mounts. To remove the coat hooks just grasp them on the sides and
pull on them. Do not place your finger into the hook as the inside of
the
hook does not move. Just the outer shell will pull away. After the
items
mentioned previously are removed the headliner will just drop down.
