Greg,
We just solved this problem on my dad's '97 Stratus. It is that spring
clip. It either falls off, or breaks (as in our case), and the pad isn't
held flush to the rotor anoymore, causing that click. The slightest
pressure on the brake pushes the pad in, and in doing so straightens it,
killing the noise of it hitting the rotor.
It's nothing to worry about, in matters of brake-safety, but it is an easy
fix to an annoying problem.
