And unfortunately most of what we pay in insurance goes to cover the
expenses generated by uninsured motorists. Even if it's not an accident
that we're involved in, just in the industry in general, it sucks. My
sister has been hit three times by uninsured motorists and in CO there's
nothing she can do about it, I'd have to kill someone if that happened to
me.

accident.. I mean, that's why we pay a monthly premium, so that if
something happens, it's covered. Otherwise, the money I save every year on
insurance will more than cover what damage I might cause to a vehicle in an
accident. Only problem then is the medical bills if I were to hurt someone
or get hurt myself (that's another supposed reason for auto insurance, but
they try to screw you there too!). One benefit I do see is if I get hit by
someone uninsured, my insurance will cover it, but I'm not sure if the
premium goes up. I've heard some insurance companies will jack your rate up
if you get into an accident, even if it wasn't your fault (meaning your
insurance company didn't have to pay out anything). I cannot verify that
though. Mine didn't though.
