Yeah, nevermind the fact that you're paying ahead IN CASE you have an accident.. I mean, that's why we pay a monthly premium, so that if something happens, it's covered. Otherwise, the money I save every year on insurance will more than cover what damage I might cause to a vehicle in an accident. Only problem then is the medical bills if I were to hurt someone or get hurt myself (that's another supposed reason for auto insurance, but they try to screw you there too!). One benefit I do see is if I get hit by someone uninsured, my insurance will cover it, but I'm not sure if the premium goes up. I've heard some insurance companies will jack your rate up if you get into an accident, even if it wasn't your fault (meaning your insurance company didn't have to pay out anything). I cannot verify that though. Mine didn't though.
