Received a little more info...this is from Superchips:
The new 3715 should have a dual program in it that will let you choose either the 87 octane or the higher 91 octane. There will not be as much performance with the 87 as there will be with the 91 though. We do advance timing to get more hp and that requires more octane to get away from the engine pinging and knocking.
So at least you don't HAVE to run 91 octane gas...
