The squeaking noise from the ball joints is normally the first sign of
them starting to fail.

Definitely check them out.

Just to be safe, I'd still lift the truck and inspect your front end for
any loose parts. You DON'T want anything up there snapping on you while
driving. That's bad times and an expensive fix, believe me.
