The last Uhaul I rented had an inertia brake. They work ok, but they suck, you can't back up worth a damn, trying to slow down going down a hill feels like the trailer is trying to rip your hitch off, and it is very unsettled.

Shoulda mentioned, if you get a car trailer, you may want to consider an
electric brake, I wish I had one for hilly driving, seemed there was always
a stop sign right at the bottom of a hilly curve.. (blew a couple a low,
20mph) speed
