They'll slide, but I don't think it would go that far. Basically
there's a channel on the rails and the snaps on the cover are a square
pyramid with the point chopped off. Just line up and press in.

My hinge pins are 16-17 inches from the front edge of the bed. Tough to
get it more exact than that with everything buttoned down. That
measurement may be different on the longer cover a convertible will have.
