I have my doubts as well. I had a car engine steam cleaned once to get
rid of spilled oil from the previous owner. I was SORELY disappointed.
Steam cleaning is a "high-level" clean. It only gets the dirt off of the
major surfaces. There was enough oil left in the crevices to still smoke
after the steaming. If your only "dirt" is water spots, that's a pretty
"detailed" level of cleaning. The only way to get things THAT clean is
to do it the hard way: with a cloth, by hand.
