Check the vacuum lines under the bed of the truck (at the evap canister)
and make sure none are disconnected ot cracked. Gas cap normally fixes
most of the issues...but it can be a vacuum line that's leaking.

Yes, I did. Let me make sure I am doing this right. I disconnected the
negative battery terminal and turned the ignition on for about a minute.
The check engine light went out, but returned after driving for a day or
so.

Did you reset the PCM (or at least the codes)?

I just replaced the cap, and still have the code. Shouldn't this be
part of the "Smog Warranty"?

Hey, Jason....

<snip>now I have a code P0455 "Large (gross) leak detected in the
evaporative purge system". Now I don'tknow what to do. Anyone have any
suggestions?<snip>

Check the O-ring or seal on the gas cap. That's what caused the DAKSY
to throw the P0455.... If you take it to the dealer, they will
blow
smoke thru the system to find the leak & bag ya for the cost of
the
test...& charge ya for the test AND the cap.... HTH,
