Mount it on the supply line. That way you get the trannys temp. If you mount it in the return line all you'd get was a "temp lower than the trannys temp".
Several of us have B&Ms temp gauges. It comes in a kit with the sender, pipe fittings, guage, and a mounting cup for ~$40.
