there's another reason for not having the EGR (i think it has to do with
emissions regulations). the Camaro's and Firebird's had them until 99 or
2000. the F-150's had them too (don't know until what year).

As Chad said, all trucks '96 and newer do not have an EGR valve. This is
because '96 is the year the switch was made from OBD-I to OBD-II, and I
guess OBD-II is better-able to control the emissions, and no EGR is needed.
If you did have EGR, there would be a tube bolted on to your passenger-side
exhaust manifold that heads back up to the intake manifold.
