81S in VA is pretty smooth going. It's a 4 lane hwy through VA, and most of TN I believe. Semi's love to roll through there, but watch out for troopers, they are all over the place. From VA/TN state line to I-64, I've counted 25 police cars, which is maybe 300 mile stretch? It really varies there, I've been able to go 85mph the entire time I was on 81, other times, I wouldn't dare push over 70 (65 mph zone). Traffic-wise, there are a few spots where it backs up on weekends, but nothing really that bad.
