I have one of those (w/nipple for hose) sitting in my toolbox waiting
to go on when I change the oil. I'm one step ahead of ya on that one
:-)

Since the original subject here is towing gas mileage, I did some
towing yesterday and paid closer attention.

On the way up, I was towing my 21' boat (I'm guessing 4200-4400 pounds
including trailer, gear, and 50 gallons of gas). The trip is close to
60 miles, with the last 10-15 being lots of steep hills on a winding
road. I averaged just under 12 mpg according to my overhead console,
which tends to average about .5 mpg lower than my manual calculations.
Most of the rest is 55mph highways with stoplights/stop signs/turns
every 6-8 miles.

On the way back, I was towing the trailer only, which weighs about
1100-1200 pounds. Same trip, just reversed. I got about 15 mpg sine
I was able to sneak it into overdrive for most of the highway driving.
I even passed a few people... <G>
