I have to agree with the tailgate theory I notice a big difference in
acceleration on the highway and/or gas mileage (especially on th highway) with the
gate down. I too have been driving my 95 dak without the gate at all (almost
since it was new) and the bed is just fine, gate goes on and off without issue.
