Curt,
What you need is a PaintSaver pad. I put one under my bedliner 8 years ago.
I pulled it out back in June for the first time. (They recommend pulling it
ever year for a bed inspection.) The bed looked like NEW!!! There were 3
or 4 rub spots no bigger than a quarter that could have been left go, but I
touched them up.
I rewaxed the bed and installed a new paintsaver. I'm going to take the old
one and cut a piece to go under the tailgate cover. I was worried how the
condition of the bed especially after not inspecting the bed per their
recommendation. I didn't use one on my last pickup, and the difference is
night and day. Using a PaintSaver is the only way to go when using a
bedliner. I bought my PaintSaver from the same business I bought my
bedliner through. You can buy them online if no one carries them locally.
Here is a link to them. I highly recommend them!

Subject: DML: plastic bed liners and bed damage
while i was at work, i picked up my bed liner and noticed bed damage. So i
went tot he local parts store. Bought some spray undercoating and coated the
bed. I will admit, by the time i was done, i wasnt feeling any pain.
Hopefully this will keep the liner from damaging the bed any further. I
asked the wife ( the truck fund), that a Rhino liner would look good in
there. She asked how much it was. Well, i guess i had better stock up on the
undercoating.
Truck goes to the paint shop tomorrow. Hopefully have it back by the end
of the week. Hate driving the Neon.
