Just to clarify something, the MP 518, though a non-lockup trans, does still
have overdrive. You just need to install a toggle switch for it if using a
manual trans PCM. Since mine was always an automatic, I just connected
into the original OD circuit and let the PCM control it during street
driving. The connector on the non-lockup trans is a 2-prong vs. the stock
3-prong connector which had wiring for both OD and converter lock-up.

Regarding the recommendation of SMR..... my experience with SMR over the
past year and a half has been, well, how should I say this.... frustrating,
disgusting, expensive, time consuming, disappointing.... and yes, I'm sugar
coating it! It still doesn't work as advertised and I've been through 3
valve bodies and 2 torque converters. It took 9 months after I received
the trans and converter to get it into a condition where I could actually
drive it. I've been inside that thing more than SMR and fixed at least 6
items that were defective from the beginning. This was supposed to be a
fully race prepped, non-lockup 518 built to accommodate a 408 stroker.
I've had to learn waaaay more about the internal workings of a transmission
than I ever wanted to know, SMR wouldn't come here to fix it even though he
comes here to race, and he won't take it back and return my money. He says
it will get solved quicker if I'm just patient and keep fixing things myself
with parts he sends me! I'm now working with another racing transmission
shop to iron out the remaining bugs in this thing cause SMR doesn't know the
solution. I've already solved one of those and no, I'm not going to share
the solution with him! And furthermore, the second torque converter SMR
sent me can't even be installed without major modification and he won't do
anything about that either! Of course I had to pull the trans again to
find that out. I could go on....... :-(
