my personal pressing todos

so I went running around looking for truck parts today. that was a
pretty frustrating couple hours...

first I hit Cortese Dodge for a baseline...
- $86 for a TPS. eek.
- $44 for a serpentine. not horrible.
- and either $29 or $61 for my trans line (return or pressure,
respectively). Dodge calls the trans coolant lines one piece from the
tranny to the radiator - I thought that was pretty interesting.
putting it in could be even more interesting....

I wandered around looking for good prices on Mobil1, too. Walmart is
the jackpot there. even when it's not on sale it's a buck a quart
cheaper than auto parts stores. no M1 at Sam's though, so they won't
get any membership money from me =)

I don't trust my Pep Boys at all anymore, so I didn't check there, but
I did hit Advance Auto.
- $25 for a TPS. wonderful! but it's special order - and AA only will
do a special order for over $150 from the same manufacturer. Jon - can
you get me the # for your good local Dodge dealer? The guys there
offered to help me track something down locally on Monday, but if yours
is a good dealer I'd hope to find something of a more reasonable price
there to stick in while I'm wrenching.
- I got a serpentine for $32, but after I got home and actually looked
at it, it's got me wondering. my current belt has a smooth backside,
and smooth ribs on the front. this belt has a smooth back side and
rippled ribs on the front. is that kosher?
- they didn't have anything in their computer for trans coolant lines.
they said their usual solution for a leaking crimp like I've got is to
cut the metal line on either end and just hose clamp a new rubber
section in place. that sounds like a horrible solution to me - can
someone lend me some pointers on how I could put proper flares and
fittings on those two hose ends to seal myself back up? I really don't
know quite what I'm looking for....

thanks for any pointers (hopefully over the weekend so I can get stuff
picked up in the time before I head to jon's nice warm and dry garage
to work - thanks again!)
