.040" is for 97's as well (shows that in the FSM and on the Emissions Tag).

.035 is the factory gap for '92-'97 Magnum motors. .040 is the factory gap
for '98 and up. As for differences in the ignition system. RC12YC is the
factory plug for '92-'97. In '98, they went to the RC12LC4 which is a plug
with
an extended nose. They also went to a different coil in '98.
