Balljoints - CBS story

Anyone else catch the CBS Evening News tonight? They had a piece on the
high (compared to comparable Chevy & Ford SUVs, combined) balljoint
failure rate of the Durango. They managed to get a Dodge service
manager at a dealer on tape (face concealed) saying that he's seen it on
more Daks than Durangos.

The reporter interviewed 2 Durango owners, one of which "only" had bad
balljoints on his '02 (they showed the truck up on a lift and the right
front wheel clunking while it rocked) and a woman (who is a reporter for
a CBS affiliate, which I'm sure helped get the story up to national
broadcast) whose '00 or '01 had the right front wheel, hub & brake
assembly and halfshaft fall off completely in traffic.

No comment from DC aside from a written statement about how 99.7% of
owners are completely satisfied means no safety problem. NHSTA is
investigating.
