figure out a way to keep the trans fluid stuck where it belongs and
pull the shaft. see if it still vibrates, and then you'll know you're
looking at the shaft or the rearend.
if you're feeling invasive, pull the rearend apart except the input
shaft/ driveshaft, and then you'll know for sure whether it's the shaft
or the guts of the banjo. if it's the guts, I'd expect that you'll see
missing bits, but missing bits have a way of making noise, so I'm not
sure where they could have gone....
the possible damage from lots of miles (clicks) of pulling make me have
a good thought for my own truck, considering I know my rearend gears
are pretty worn.... could whoever has that front set of 3.92 gears
drop me a line with asking price/ condition/ specs? that might make
for a cheaper way for me to regear... and if/when I do run across a
3.92 rearend I might find out where the slight vibration I've had for a
year+ might be coming from (just enough to shake the mirrors).
