The extra weight directly over the drive wheels makes a noticeable
difference for me. Especially on hills. Even when the snow isn't
axle-deep.
Keep in mind you've got a V6, 2WD. Your weight distribution front/rear
is probably closer to 50/50 (thought still front-biased) than my V8 4x4.

I thought about going withough sandbags but when I was able to slide
around a corner without really trying, I figured a little extra weight
couldn't hurt.
