I don't have any actual experience with 5th wheels, but I've read a bit
about this. I guess it has to do with the trailer hitting the back of the
cab. This problem would be especially bad with the extra short bed on a
Quad. I've read that most people who buy trucks with the intention of
towing a 5th wheel will go for the long bed option.

Apparently, there's some kind of hitch setup that can be used to alter the
geometry depending on whether you're on the freeway or trying to get
parked in the campground. I've never looked in to it. I like my tonneau
too much :-).
