The phenom does happen in port injection as well. The PCM has an
acceleration enrichment routine or AE(equivalent of accelerator pump on the
carb) which helps with the quick throttle transitions. If you open up the
intake path enough, the factory settings for AE will not be sufficient for
the added air and you'll end up with an off idle stumble or a lean pop back
through the TB in severe cases.

M1 intake installs see this trait quite often.
