Hard to say what's causing your pinging at this stage. Could just be excess
carbon or a small vacuum leak. Check all vacuum connections to be sure. If
the truck was driven at low speeds a lot before you got it I would lean
toward the carbon issue, which might improve as you drive it a little more
at highway speeds. I've heard of some '92's pinging but never experienced
it in mine and I use stock heat range plugs. I wouldn't recommend any
colder plug than what you have. Too cold leads to incomplete combustion at
low engine speeds and promotes MORE carbon buildup. If you don't find any
vacuum leaks, I'd suggest an injector cleaner that is ALSO formulated to
clean combustion deposits. Then maybe some premium fuel if all else fails.
