Going to a 4in bore on a 318 gives it the same bore as a 360, not a 340. A
340 has a 4.04in bore. If you can find a mag 360 block that has enough meat
in the walls to safely do a .040 overbore, you can get 318 cranks mains
built up to 360 journal size and make yourself a mottern day 340.
The older 318/340 blocks had a lot more meat in the walls than the newer
thin walled magnum castings, it wasnt uncommon to see .060 or bigger
overbores in the older LA blocks
