As compared to a setup with locking front hubs, I think there is a
power/efficieny difference. My brother's '94 Blazer burned out the
hub-locking solenoid in the "locked" position so his only disconnect was
the t-case (just like us). When he figured that out (several months
later) and replaced the solenoid, he picked up 2-3 MPG.
