No, the sleeving is just an appearance item. I would never invest in braided
hoses, the cost compared to the benifit in a daily driver just can't be
justified. The materials they use in hoses now is easily good for 10 years. As
long as you inspect them for mushyness and brittleness and replace as necessary
you really do not need to worry about a failure.
