I had 2 close calls on Saturday, but it was just idiot drivers.

Close call #1: We're westbound on I690 coming through downtown Syracuse.
~ I'm in the left lane, an SUV in the lane to my right. As we come
towards where the 81N to 690W ramp merges in (from the left), I see a
red Acura coming down the ramp faster than he should. I figure he's
going to give me the right of way and keep rolling along. When his rear
wheel was even with my front, his fender about 18 inches from mine, and
the lanes were closing in together, I realized he didn't even bother
looking for me, the SUV was keeping pace with me, and the only direction
I could go was STOP. Luckily no one was behind me, because I dropped
about 30 MPH in 50 feet. Had I clipped the Acura, I would have spun him
right in front of both myself and the SUV next to me. Ed, you've been
on the highways in downtown 'Cuse I'm sure - there is NO room for error.

300 yards later, I'm still in the lefthand lane and some idiot in a Park
Avenue decided to share lane space with me while I was right next to
him. A horn blast took care of that one.

Don't even get me started on the idiots I had to deal with in the
parking lot once we got to the mall. I told Marci "these people
(including the people on 690) are all very lucky I'm not armed."
